Sweden Recaps, Tidbits, & Nonsense

I have been home from Sweden for almost a week now.  I have acclimated back to normalcy…and have jumped feet first back into some good summer binge-watching.  Orange is the New Black.  They wear tan…not orange!????  Five seasons in, and this still bothers me.  The show is known to be pretty entertaining (If you don’t  mind some language, abnormally high estrogen levels,…and some extremely ignorant girls that have done way too many drugs in their lifetime.)  This season though.  I’m on like episode 5, and it’s dragggggiiinnnggg.  The end of Season 4 was bizarre…and really sad.  It left you hanging…anxiously awaiting to see what happens next.  Well….5 episodes into Season 5…I’m still waiting…checking emails and taking power naps in between.  Anyone else feel like this?  It’s probably just me.  Un-diagnosed A.D.D.  Doesn’t take much.

My Sweden trip was busy.  Every night when I sat down to write my next blog…I had been going all day and had one eyelid half closed.  As I was going through some pics…and mindfully recapping the trip…I realized I had left a few important (Not really…but nothing much I say is.  Unless you are my student….and then everything I say is golden.) things out.

Here are a few things that will enlighten you…and make you a tad more educated than you were before reading this…

1.  There are some TGI Fridays in Sweden, and one of them just happens to be in Malmö.  This is a snapshot of the menu.  Y’all…Some of these burgers are over $20.  $20 for a burger at TGI Fridays!  They act like it’s fine dining or something!  If they only knew…

2.  I have this friend who really wanted to see a pic of the hot blonde (picking up trash.)    Dude of course.🙄  No, I didn’t take a picture.  Do I look like a paparazzi?!  I would have had I thought quick enough.😂  Here is what I have come up with.  She looked something like this girl…wearing this outfit……literally.  Pretty sure her vest was even yellow.

If you ever get the hankering to Google hot blonde chick…please be aware that some obscene articles/links/etc. might pop up on your screen.  Apparently it is popular verbiage in the “adult” world.

3.  In one of my Swedish posts…I showed you the massive caviar selection at the grocery store.  My father-in-law likes that stuff.  Loves it.  He eats the Kalles brand with eggs on the regular.  Imagine deli turkey meat…chewed up thoroughly…and put in a tube to sale.  Here is a pic of what it looks like…and here is a display of it that I snapped a the grocery store.

4.  Fika…one of the joys of my Swedish travels.  Who doesn’t like a mid-afternoon coffee/sweet break (or your beverage and food of choice)?  If you still don’t know what i’m referring to, check it out here.  Here are a few snaps of some of my fabulous fika experiences this trip….☕️🍪🍰

Y’all….This chocolate ball.  It’s probably a factor in why I’m still married to The Swede.

5.  Prinsesstårta…pronounced prin-sess-tor-tuh…meaning “princess cake” in English…is a Swedish classic that I had never tried prior to this trip.  I’m actually not sure I had even heard of it before.  How classic is it really?  It looks a little something like this:

My expectations were sub par.  Look at it.  Snotty green.  Yum.  The inside of this green goddess though are delightful layers of cake, cream, and raspberry jam-ish stuff.  It was delish.  Here is what the inside looks like with a break down of the layers:

It definitely exceeded my expectations.  It was kind of like a raspberry shortcake all encased in this layer of marzipan.  Sweets with extra sugar…can’t go wrong.

6.  Every single year I walk out on this “pier”…and gaze out into the ocean.  It wasn’t until this year that I found out the building at the end of it is a bathhouse and restaurant called Ribersborgs Kallbadhus. How did I not know this?  Bathhouse on the ocean.  Sounds fantastic, right?  In the summer…people practice the art of “nude sunbathing.” The visitors vary from 15-90 years of age.  Hmmmm.  Trip Advisor says it’s a must-do.  Should I put it on my must-do list for next time??🤔🤔

7.  They always say you shouldn’t be the first one to fall asleep……😂

Side Notes:

  • Riverfest was cancelled! 40 years of music, fried delicacies, and the best people-watching Little Rock, AR will ever see…has come to an end. I have a mixed feelings.  Growing up going to Riverfest, I have years of memories from going to the annual jubilee.  At the same time….I will no longer have to debate whether or not I want to fight the crowd…withstand the heat…chance the rain…or risk exposing myself to herbal fumes that may reappear in a random drug test. Winning.  Read about it here.
  • Rumors are saying Taylor Swift was carried out of her NYC apartment in a suitcase.  If you haven’t heard this…you live in a suitcase.  See here.  If you ask me (which nobody ever does)…There are way too many people who need better things to do.  That is how conversations like these even get started.  Wait…where do I fall? 😐

Big Hugs.  Lots of Love.
