Junkie of Sorts…

My book club met for the first time.  By definition…a book club is a group of people who meet to discuss a book or books that they have read and express their opinions,  likes, dislikes, etc. 🤔 We ate lots of goodies, some drank a little wine, and then proceeded to talk about how good each dish was and where we could find the recipes.  I was tucked away in the corner stuffing my mouth with these salted caramel Rice Krispie treats…a salty, sweet delicacy in which I could have eaten the Whole. Entire. Pan.  Did someone say this was a book club?

As I mentioned in a previous blog,  Fitness Junkie was the book on the table.   Overall, it is what I would call a good summer read.  Light, engaging, and pretty humorous.  If you can relate to any of the following things, there’s a good chance you will find it somewhat interesting and/or entertaining:

  1. You are into fitness.  Or…you like the idea but haven’t quite gotten there yet.  No judgement.
  2. You are into fitness and are always trying the next best gym/class/fitness craze in order to stay in tip-top shape.  Or…maybe you are just trying to keep up with Kelly Ripa, Beyonce, and the rest of the highfalutin crowd that pays $50 per class to sweat. I love SoulCycle.
  3. You have tried every fad diet under the sun…and even though they usually don’t hold true…you partake in the hamster wheel anyways. Or…maybe you really do hate carbs and choose to eat alfalfa sprouts and grass for every meal because you love it.  Said no one ever.
  4. You find Shamanism fascinating.  Or…you just want a person in your life who is spiritually calming, encouraging, and tells you how awesome you are .  The Swede better hope I never find someone of this nature.
  5. You like the idea of a food delivery service that comes with a good-looking man that not only delivers your food but cooks you dinner…in your kitchen…without you having to lift a finger.  Wait…maybe that’s just me. 🤔🙋🏼😁

I might be considered a fitness junkie by definition (maybe?)…but…the fact that candy is a food group in my diet (I once found an m&m in my robe pocket.), cheese dip could possibly run through my veins, I have more shoes than my three closets can handle, and coffee is a key component in my productivity…probably means that I’m a junkie of many sorts. 🍫🧀👠👡👢👟☕️🍦

The next book in the lineup is a book called Boundaries and Protection by Pixie Lighthorse.  Pixie Lighthorse.  Author…or “Dancer”? 🤔 This book I wasn’t quite as gungho about.  I’m putting it in the same category as one of those movies you wait until other people go see first to see what they say about it before you spend your money.  It sounds like a book you would find in the self-help section of the library.  Did I say that out loud?  It does have good reviews on Amazon though.  All 20 of them. That could add a level of legit to it, but I’m still going to wait it out.

The Solar Eclipse has come and gone.  Something that was anticipated for many years…lasted a whopping 2 1/2 minutes.  Slightly disappointing.  My hopes were set high after watching it at its totality on the news.  That was pretty cool.  Our 89% of visibility looked more like 25%…and it was only as dark as a cloudy day.  April 8, 2024 will be the next sighting, so that gives you a little less than seven years to anticipate the possible disappointment. BUT….Arkansas is supposed to be on its path of totality.  So, for those of you who don’t dwell in the Natural State…book your hotel now.  IMG_3988

Side Notes:

  • Why?!
    FullSizeRender
Yes…According to Siri, my name is Professor Awesome. Smart man he is.

Why do I keep getting emails from a dating site called “Senior People Meet”?!  I am no spring chicken (more like a fall turkey)…but I’m quite far from getting the senior citizen discount at Kroger.  Although…that would be nice.

  • After 7 seasons….the Swede and I decided to see what the Game of Thrones hype is all about it.  We started the binge fest a few days ago.  We have finished the first season, and I don’t feel like I’m head over heels like most people.  Not yet.  Not even close actually.  I leave the first season with these 2 thoughts…
    • 1.  What in the world kind of language are some of these peeps speaking?!
    • 2.  The Queen and her brother.  I have two brothers.  I think I just threw up a little bit at the thought. Just saying.

Big Hugs.  Lots of Love.
