Motown to Rock Town

Little Rock has accumulated several nicknames over the years, most of them resident-proclaimed.  But did you know that there is an official nickname?  It actually made the NBC news.  Check it out here.  The Rock. The Rock? It was deemed “The Rock” in 2006 to replace its former nickname, “City of Roses”.  Whaaaaaat?! Shouldn’t it have been the City of Daffodils or something?  I mean…who else has a month-long festival solely dedicated to the yellow, short-lived perennial?  Last I checked, The Rock was a bald, super buff, brown beauty who has this amazing talent to only raise one eyebrow at a time.  One that I have never been able to master.  Oh yes…I’m trying it as we speak.  #fail #lifegoals

I’ll take #s 1 & 5….                    And everything in between

This past week has been full of coffee dates, lunch outings, and weeknight shenanigans.  I met up with some friends at Crush Wine Bar in Argenta for a French Wine Tasting.  I have never been to France (bucket list)...but since I’m pretty confident that I could live off of buttery croissants and good wine…I think I would fit right in.  Oui oui!  If you have never been to Crush, you need to check it out.  Cozy, little place with a really neat, intimate patio.  They have wine tastings on Monday evenings quite often which usually feature different types of wines of different origins.  What better way to start the week?!  The French wines were pretty tasty.  A good mix of whites, reds, and rose.  I don’t think any of us left disappointed.  Cheers to Mondays! 🥂

IMG_2925The recently renovated Robinson Auditorium has definitely not underdelivered when it comes to their musical theater line-up.  Thanks to some good friends in high places (see a trend here?)….The Swede and I dawned the doors of Motown‘s opening night.  It was one of the most entertaining and captivating shows I have been to.  Performing 50 different hits from musical legends such as Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, The Jackson Five, Diana Ross and The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder (Did you know he has NINE children?!), etc., the audience was singing along and dancing out of their seats.  It gave a great historical picture of Motown Records and how it evolved into what it is today.  It was funny, enlightening, engaging, upbeat, and overall a great show.  Annnnnd a history lesson for me.  Lindsay & Lindsay give it two thumbs up!💃🏼🎶👍🏻👍🏻

I’m not sure I should fully disclose the amount of times I went out to eat this past week.  In my defense…they were all local restaurants.  Just giving back to the community one pastry at a time.  A friend and I tried out the newest coffee dig in town, The Meteor Cafe.

A board of deliciousness. Savories…sweets…caffeine. Necessities.

It is located in Stifft Station across from the Oyster Bar.  It has a great spacious, open atmosphere. They had an array of  fancy coffee, teas, and tasty pastries.  The brown butter ginger scone was yummy…if you like ginger.  To me….ginger tastes like soap.  There’s a reason that people says it cleanses your palette.  One bite would be this yummy, buttery, sweet delicacy…then the next bite would taste like I licked the bottom of my dawn bottle.  Brown butter chocolate chip scone…yeeeessssss. #suggestionbox  The best thing we had was this “meteor” thing that had egg, bacon, and leeks (fancy) in it.  The dough was croissant-like.  Slap yo mama.  We ended up getting an iced mocha and iced vanilla latte instead of hot coffee.  Running outside in 80+ degree weather to get coffee…not the best idea.  They were both really good…but iced coffee doesn’t satisfy my morning coffee fix. #nexttime

I will be headed to Sweden this weekend.  Get ready for some awesome times ahead!

Side Notes:

  • Ken Dolls have had a major makeover.  They now have man buns…and come in Original, Slim, and Broad.  Slim?  Were the original not slim enough?  Is Ken going to be anorexic-looking with perfect boobs too?  “Next Gen Ken.”  Check them out here.
  • The Swede and I have been binge-watching the new season of House of Cards allpaste-tv-gallery-hoc-more-episodes
week.  Spoiler Alert:  Nobody gets hit by a train…buuut…somebody does go missing in the ARKANSAS RIVER! Oh yeah…we are big-time now.
  • Peanut butter and jelly biscuit…with bacon on it.  That’s what my dad ate for breakfast the other day. 🤔🤔🤔
  • Guys….please tell me frosted tips are not coming back. 💇🏼‍♂️🙅🏼 I also hear boy bands are making a comeback.  I’m too young for trends to be recycling!!
  • Harry Potter turned 20!  Twenty years of wizards, muggles, and an overly bitter,  really ugly guy who cannot be named.  Valdemort! Valdemort! Valdemort! (Beetlejuice child🙋🏼….yeeessssss!!)

Big Hugs.  Lots of Love.
